About the Programme B.Sc in Biochemistry Course
The study of chemical reactions and processes in living organisms is covered under the broad section of Science called Biochemistry. Biochemistry deals with the structure, functions, interactions of biomolecules, the flow of chemical energy, and biochemical signals through metabolism, hence it is closely related to molecular biology also.
B.Sc Biochemistry Course Description
Like other undergraduate courses, B.Sc (Biochemistry) is also of three years academic curriculum. Although it is a full-time course few Universities offer this course as part-time or through distance learning too. As one can pursue it from different modes like part-time or distance learning, therefore the duration for the course can be extended beyond three years.
What is Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Biochemistry)?
It is the branch of science deals with the study and application of chemical principles in biological processes and living organisms. In short, it is the study of chemical processes in living organisms along with the principles of biology, mathematics, genetics, and physics.
Subjects which are undertaken during the course include Biomolecules, Enzymology, Plant Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Clinical Biochemistry, Immunology, and Biochemical Techniques.
B.Sc Biochemistry Eligibility Criteria
- One should complete his/her 10+2 with a recognized Board or equivalent to it with a minimum aggregate of 70%.
- Should complete 10+2 with Science as mandatory subjects.
- Admission can be on the basis of a merit list depending upon the University norms.
