M.A in Archaeology Course Overview

Archaeology is the study of the history of humans through the process of excavation and analysis. A Masters of Archaeology is a 2-year postgraduate degree course. The course is meant to train a person in recovering, analyzing, and interpreting the archaeological material in the right context. The degree requires a lot of patience and dedication from a person. A person would need to spend an unlimited amount of time on the field looking for archaeologically significant material, digging and analyzing it. But if a person succeeds in giving what it takes to complete the degree, career opportunities are very bright.

Eligibility Criteria for M.A in Archaeology Course

  • A person should have completed B.A or B.Sc. from any recognized university/college with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • In some institutes, the admission may be on the basis of merit while in some others, mostly the premier institutions, the admission would be based on a screening test.

A person who has successfully completed his M.A in Archaeology can work as a Heritage Manager or Heritage Conservationist in Central or State Govt. You can also work as a Museum or Tourist Guide. Working as a documentation specialist in a govt. or private organization can also be an option. Apart from that, you can become an Archivist or an Information Manager or a Historical Interpreter, or a Library System Analyst. If you are interested in history, you can become a historian too.
