Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences and Hospital, Jammu was established in 1996.The College and the Teaching Hospital are located on the picturesque hill slope above River Tawi about 8 Kms away from the heart of Jammu City.The college commands a scenic beauty all around with Mata Vaishno Devi Trikuta Hills and snow covered peaks on the north and small green hills surrounding other sides.The College is affiliated to the University of Jammu which is also the examining body of the programme offered by the College.

In order to provide health care facilities to people living in J&K State, the first MRI Scanner and the first Heart Care Centre was established in this Colloge. The first Angioplasty in J&K State was also conducted in this Hospital on 10th October 2001.The Hospital is empanelled with various organizations for treatment of their employees and has been approved by J&K Government for treatment of Government employees and their families.
