St. Francis de Sales College is manned by the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales (MSFS) of South West India Province, who firmly believe that 'the education of the heart is the heart of education' hailed by its founder Fr. UNDERGRADUATE COURSES

BA (Bachelor of Arts):

The BA degree which offers a specialization in Journalism, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Optional English, Political Science, and History leads to a holistic understanding of social sciences. The combination offered, helps the student fine tune the social skills and provide an awareness of the social reality

Course Duration: 3 years

BSc (Bachelor of Science):

BSc is a three-year under graduate program under Bangalore University spanning over six semesters. It follows triple major system where in students study Computer Science, Mathematics and Electronics or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as major subjects. The three year programme paves way for taking up further postgraduate programmes in Computer Science, Mathematics or Electronics.

Course Duration: 3 years

Eligibility: Pass in 10+2/Pre-University Course/ equivalent courses recognized by Bangalore University.

BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration):

The syllabus provides an insight into the economic, social and legal environment in which today’s business world operates.

BBA-Aviation Management:

The three years undergraduate programme in Aviation Management is one of the flagship programs of Bangalore University. This program focuses on areas like aviation industry, organisations of aviation sector, air traffic control, operations and management of airlines, planning and management of airports, tourism management, strategic management, personal management, marketing, project management etc.

Eligibility: Pass in two years pre-university course (Science/ Commerce) equivalent course recognized by Bangalore University.

BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application):

The Department of Computer Science was established to meet the demand for qualified computer professionals. The programme is designed to cater to the ever changing needs and demands of the IT industry. The course opens wide vistas of system analysis, design and application life cycle management practices to the students.

Course Duration: 3 years

Eligibility: Pass in 10+2/Pre-University Course/ equivalent courses recognized by Bangalore University.

Department of Languages:

The College offers Optional English, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, French and Urdu as second language option for Graduate Courses.

POSTGRADUATE COURSES

M.Com (Master of Commerce):

The Post-Graduate Degree in Commerce specializes in COMMERCE, ACCOUNTING, MANAGEMENT AND ECONOMICS and is a popular academic choice after humanities and science. It imparts knowledge on the inner workings of various financial institutions and business, trade, financial policies and the stock market as well as corporate finances and the general economy. Commerce as a specialization is much in demand to meet the ever-growing needs of the Indian economy, which is expanding exponentially at both national and international levels.

Course Duration: 2 year

Eligibility: A Candidate who has passed 10+2+3 with BCom/BBA degree from Bangalore University or any other university recognized as equivalent are eligible for admission, provided they have obtained not less than 50% (45% for SC/ST/Category-1 candidates) marks in the aggregate in Commerce subjects.

M.Com (F/A) (Master of Commerce in Finance and Accounts):

A specialization in Finance & Accounting equips the student to gain in-depth training, knowledge and skills in various aspects of business, accounting and finance. The course trains students to develop conceptual, management and analytical skills to evaluate changing financial market trends and use this to advise individuals and companies on fund investment and money management.

Course Duration: 2 year

Eligibility: A Candidate who has passed 10+2+3 with BCom/BBA degree from Bangalore University or any other university recognized as equivalent are eligible for admission, provided they have obtained not less than 50% (45% for SC/ST/Category-1 candidates) marks in the aggregate in Commerce subjects.

MA in English (Master of Arts in English):

The curriculum of the postgraduate degree programme in English is comprised of poetry, prose, drama, fiction, non-fiction and critical theories in English.

Course Duration: 2 year

Eligibility: A Candidate who has passed 10+2+3 with BA/ BSc or BCom degree from Bangalore University or any other university recognized as equivalent is eligible for admission, provided they have scored 55% marks in the concerned language in the degree course.

M.Sc Psychology (Master of Science in Psychology) :

This course will prepare students to work in various specialized and applied fields of psychology. The course provides students the required qualification and skills to work as Psychologists. The Masters program grounds students in theory, research and practice, providing them a systemic and holistic approach in understanding human behaviour.

Course Duration: 2 year

Eligibility: Candidates with 40% marks in the aggregate of all the Optional Subjects in 3 years of Under graduation, with Psychology as one of the subjects and having scored aggregate 50% marks in the same.

M.Sc Mathematics (Master of Science in Mathematics) :

Course Duration: 2 year

Eligibility: B.A./B.Sc. with Honors in Mathematics or B.A./ B.Sc. (pass course) with Mathematics as one of the subjects having at least 50% marks in aggregate.

MBA (Master of Business Administration) :

Course Duration: 2 year

Eligibility: Candidates who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3), Master’s Degree from a recognized university in disciplines of Commerce, Management, Arts, Science, Engineering/Technology, or equivalent and have secured not less than 50% of Marks in aggregate (45% in case of SC/ST/Cat-1) including languages and an acceptable score in MAT/CAT/ KMAT/CMAT/AIMA/PGCET. Admission will be based on the score secured in qualifying exam and personal interview.

Specialisation: Finance, Marketing and Human Resource Management

PG Diploma in Psychological Counselling :

Course Duration: 1 year

Eligibility: A graduate of Bangalore University or any other recognized university in India having studied in a regular course, in any of the following optional subject. Viz., Psychology/ Sociology/ Social Work/Home Science/ Human Resource Development (Management)., or B.Ed., or a graduate in any discipline of Rehabilitation Science - A Doctor (from any medical faculty such as Allopathy/Ayurveda/Unani/Homeopathy), paramedical rehabilitation: Nurse, physiotherapist, Occupational therapist, speech therapist, audiologist with 50% marks in aggregate (including languages). The degree is awarded by the Bangalore University.

PG Diploma in Human Resource Management :

Course Duration: 1 year

Eligibility: Candidate with 40% marks in aggregate in Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree of any discipline of a recognized University are eligible of admission. Candidates studying in a regular course of study in any discipline are not eligible for admission. The degree is awarded by the Bangalore University.

MA Economics (Master of Arts in Economics):

This programme is offered to students who have successfully completed their Undergraduate programme with Economics as one of the subjects. The course work facilitates the students to take up careers in research, in the field of knowledge dissemination, corporate analytics, policy analysis, journalism in economics, competitive examinations etc.

Course Duration: 2 year

Eligibility: Candidates who have secured 40% marks in the aggregate of all subjects and 50% marks in the cognate subject at the bachelors degree level.

SFS COLLEGE - ADMISSION PROCEDURE (UG & PG)

Karnataka Students

    • Higher Secondary (I&II year) / UG Marks Statement in original.
    • Conduct Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
    • Transfer Certificate.
    • Caste Certificate.
    • 10 passport size photographs in formal dress.

Non-Karnataka Students

    • Higher Secondary (I&II year) / UG Marks Statement in original.
    • Conduct Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
    • Transfer Certificate.
    • Migration Certificate.
    • 10 passport size photographs in formal dress.
    • Caste & Income Certificate.

Conditions pertaining to submission of documents

    • At the time of admission, candidates must submit all the original documents, copies and other relevant documentation as well as a hardcopy of the completed application form.
    • Students should ensure that they keep a photocopy of the documents for themselves before submitting the same to the admissions department.
    • The original documents submitted will be returned to the student only at the end of the program.
    • In order to take back these documents at the end of the program, a student must produce the documents acknowledgement receipt received during the time of admission.

Fee Regulations

    • The fee shall be paid for the full year or for the first semester on the day of admission. Fee once paid, will not be refunded.
    • The fee shall be remitted to the South Indian Bank branch office located with in the campus.
    • Students should retain the payment receipt for future reference.
    • Students are expected to clear all their arrears including fine and breakage, damages etc. if any, to obtain their hall tickets for all the exams.
    • Students shall obtain and produce a No Due Certificate (NDC) to obtain the hall ticket for all the exams.
    • Students shall obtain a receipt for any fine/fees paid at the office on demand.

SFS COLLEGE - PLACEMENT

Placement Cell and Career Guidance Cell

St Francis de Sales College (SFS College) provides career guidance and placement facilities to undergraduate students. The Office helps the students assess their career interest with aptitude and offers them an opportunity to meet and be interviewed by some of the prestigious firms in the state and the country. It organizes mock interviews, workshops, seminars and group discussions on relevant topics. Campus recruitment is held from November to July of every academic year. Usually, the process begins with a pre-placement talk which gives students an insight about the company and the job they have to offer, followed by the selection process.

Placement Guidelines:

1. Students with their average score of less than 60% would not be eligible for any Placement assistance from the Institute.

2. The students who have not carried out the following responsibilities would be relegated to last priority for Placement assistance from the Institute.

  • Recruitment Survey to be carried out for 10- 25 Companies
  • Placement Presentations in Companies during their Summer Internship and their documented feedback
  • Attending the Corporate Meet
  • Attending PPTs / Guest Lectures / CEO Forums / Corporate Forums.

3.It is compulsory for all the final year students from all streams to attend the Pre-Placement Talks. (Here in after referred to as PPT’s). In case a student is absent in more than 2 PPT’s he / she would be debarred from further Placement Assistance from the Institute.

4.Students are advised to submit their preferred area of specialization where he / she would like to pursue his/ her career. No changes would be allowed once the undertaking in exceptional cases, the case would be reviewed and if approved by the TnP Board, the change might be considered.

5.Students are expected to find out the details about the companies their profile and all other relevant details about the Company visiting the campus from the website or from the Placement Office of TnP or any other source.

6.Once a student has applied for a particular Company after the PPT/ display of Placement notice for the Company it would be assumed that he / she is interested in the Company and hence the excuse of not liking the profile of the Company or the job would not be entertained. All defaulters would be subject to severe penalties as per the decision of the TnP Board.

7.Sponsored Students are not eligible for Placement.
