Technical University or VEL TECH has been established by VEL TECH group of Educational Institutions which was established in 1990 by a well known industrialist couple dedicated to public service, Dr.R.Rangarajan and Dr.R. Sakunthala Rangarajan, who by then had 30 years of experience in developing industries and international trade. Dr.R.Rangarajan is the founder chairman Vel Tech Rs Group founder & chancellor VEL TECH Dr. R.R & Dr. S.R Technical University. VEL TECH Dr. R.R. & Dr. S.R. Technical University, Chennai has established more than 25 courses in Engineering under various Faculties which includes more than 300 highly qualified and experienced teachers. VEL TECH also provides French, Japanese, Korean and Spanish Languages Courses. VEL TECH has been duly declared as Deemed to be University u/s 3 of the UGC Act1956, F. 9-55/2004-U.3 (A) dated 15th October, 2008 by the UGC and notified by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi.
