The candidates must check the IIST eligibility criteria before applying for the IIST application form. The eligibility criteria consist of the age, nationality and the educational qualification. Candidates can check the IIST eligibility criteria below:
- Nationality: Candidate must be an Indian Citizen
- Age Limit: The candidate should be of 32 years as on April 30th, . SC/ST/PWD category candidates are eligible for the relaxation as per the government norms. However, there is no age relaxation for the women and the OBC candidate.

The IIST M. tech admission procedure is simple. Candidates need to register themselves through the online application process. The application received through online mode are eligible for the further processing. Shortlisting of the candidates is done on the basis of their performance in the interview and written test.
Candidates can follow the below-mentioned steps to fill the IIST M. tech form
- Candidates need to register for the IIST M.tech by providing the necessary details like Name, mail id, phone number.
- Upload the required documents, photograph, signature in the prescribed format.
- After the successful submission candidates must keep the IIST registration number and password allotted to them.
- Candidates must complete their course registration using the IIST registration number and password.
- Pay the IIST application fees after 2 days of registration by using the SBI Challan and upload it.
- Keep the record for the future reference

IIST conduct a entrance examination for Post Graduation(M.Tech). Important exam details given below -
- Firstly candidate must read the eligibility criteria. Only those candidates can apply who are fulfills the required criteria.
- Candidate submit the application form and pay the mentioned fee through online mode.
- Now come on the point, IIST does not conducted any written exam for this.
- IIST select the candidates basis on the Gate Score.
- If candidate selected in the first round IIST call him for the Personal Interview
- After that IIST release a result sheet on the basis of total marks(GATE SCORE + PERSONAL INTERVIEW)
- Then give the call letter for counselling
