General or OBC-NCL category candidates states that aspirants will be eligible to apply for the entrance exam if they are born on or after October 1, 1994. However, age limit for SC, ST or PwD category candidates states that such aspirants should be born on or after October 1, 1989.

Candidates can appear for this engineering entrance exam if they have appeared for their Class XII or equivalent exam in 2018 or 2019. Here, candidates also need to ensure that this should be their first attempt in all the subjects they have opted in Class XII or equivalent.
Candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs for the first time in 2018 can appear in JEE (Advanced).
The exam will comprise 2 papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2 of 3 hours duration each.
Each question paper will consist of 3 separate sections- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Negative marks may be awarded for marking the incorrect answer.
