Audio-visual aids were introduced and the teachers were urged to improve their approach through self-evaluation and adoptation of fresh methods of teaching. Mrs. V.M. Chandran who took over as Principal in 1973 is the person behind the construction of school auditorium. The parents' Block was inaugurated during this period. Two new houses - Elmes and Waller were introduced in addition to the existing Barton, Foley and Maiden Houses. Pale green Tunics were changed to Dark Green.Computer studies were introduced. The strength rose from 700 to 3000. Six additional class rooms were built and shift system was introduced. The Bishop Cotton Women's Christian College was started in 1985, the first of its kind in the Diocese.
Dr. Mrs. Lavanya Mithran M.Sc. B.Ed. Ph.D, Dr. Mrs. Mithran emerged as the School topper in her Class X examinations. She pursued B.Sc and thereafter M.Sc and was the University topper in both. She was also the recipient of a Gold Medal for M.Sc. On completion of her M.Sc. she had the unique privilege of teaching post graduate students. Dr. Mrs. Lavanya Mithran served as a Former Member of the Academic Senate of Venkateshwara University. She was the first woman in Andhra Pradesh to acquire a doctorate in the subject of Environmental Geology. She commenced her career as Academic Co-ordinator, Mother Mary School. HAL III Stage and then went on to head the Modern English School at J.P. Nagar and subsequently at RJS Group of Institutions. Dr. Mrs. Lavanya Mithran has taken up the mantle of Principal at Bishop Cotton Girls’ School since January, 2015. An educationist and an extremely progressive personality, Dr. Mrs. Mithran endeavours to take Cottons’ to even greater heights.

(a) Candidates who have been awarded a Pass Certificate in the Indian Certificate of Secondary Examination (ICSE) at the end of Std. X, with passes in five subjects including English and a Second Language are eligible for admission into Std.XI.
(b) Candidates who have been awarded a Pass Certificate in the ICSE Examination, but have failed in the Second Language will be admitted into Std.XI provisionally and will be required to pass in the Second Language of the ICSE Examination at the end of Std. XI before being declared eligible for promotion to Std. XII.
