The residents of the Juhu Parle Development Scheme faced acute difficulty for several years to get admission for their wards in a good English-medium school within walking distance from their residence. The Juhu Vile Parle Development Co-operative Housing Association Ltd., realising this genuine difficulty of the residents, entrusted this arduous task to The Juhu Parle Education Society. By sheer hardwork and perseverance, The Juhu Parle Education Society completed the school building by June 1982, and the Utpal Shanghvi School commenced on 8th June 1982, with Pre-Primary and Primary divisions. In June 1983, the Secondary Section commenced. It is non-denominational and a co-educational institution.
The aim of the school is to train children to lead full and useful lives through a liberal education and broad curricula. The school stands for academic excellence, development of skills and character-formation through curricular and extracurricular activities. These help to broaden the mental outlook of the students and provide opportunities to discover and develop latent talent in them.
Utpal Shanghvi School is affiliated with the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education, and prepares and trains students for the SSC Examination since 1982. The course of studies of the school is arranged according to syllabi laid down by the Department of Education, Govt. of Maharashtra. The academic year begins in June.
