Owing to the ever-rising demand for skilled cosmetologists, most of the leading institutes in India have introduced Bachelors's and Masters's level courses in cosmetic science across the segments. 

What is a Cosmetic Chemist?

The job of a cosmetic chemist, or as they call it in the UK a cosmetic scientist, requires you to do a wide variety of things both in and out of the lab. Your main responsibility will be that of a formulator. This means you mix raw materials together to create cosmetic products like lipstick, nail polish, skin lotions, shampoos, toothpaste, and any other type of personal care product.

You also have to come up with ideas for new products, test cosmetic prototypes, fix production problems, evaluate competitive products, and develop skills to better understand the difference between a good product and one that doesn’t work as well. 

Eligibility for B.Sc. Hons Microbiology

  • Candidates should clear Class XII with science/  Mathematics/ Biology / Biotechnology as a mandatory stream from a recognized board.
  • Candidates should score a minimum percentage in Class XII (usually 45% - 50%) as stipulated by the university/ college in which they are seeking admission.
  • Candidates should be a minimum of 17 and the maximum age for the course should not be more than 35 years.
