M. D. Ayurveda or Doctor of Medicine in Ayurveda is a three-year post-graduate course that is native to India and is considered to be an alternative form of medicine as per the traditional Hindu system. It is also called M. D. Ayurved or AyurvedVachaspati. The course is divided into two parts over a span of three years. The course concentrates mainly on research work in the subject of Ayurved, Principles of Ancient Ayurvedic methods of research, modern methods of research, classifications, and definitions of research, Serendipity research, motivation, and terminology of research, and so on. It opens a lot of opportunity doors for candidates on completion.
Candidates wanting to opt for this course should have acquired a pass degree in B.A.M.S from a recognized university/college. An entrance examination is also conducted by respective institutes offering this course which students need to appear for to seek entry. Additionally, those going in for this course should possess self-confidence, strong concentration power, good counseling and communication skills, and interpersonal skills and should be capable of making important decisions as per the situation. This course is also suitable for those who wish to go for further studies.
On completion of this course, candidates can easily acquire jobs as medical doctors in private as well as government Ayurveda hospitals. They can even start practicing on their own and open an Ayurveda medicine store as well. This course even makes one eligible for getting employed in ‘Pancho Karma’ (Ayurveda massage) health centers as supervisors, or teaches in Ayurveda colleges or carries out workshops, research, seminars, and other related programs.
