About
Mother Teresa of St. Rose of Lima was pioneer in women’s education in Kerala. Though she was invited by the Carmelite fathers to be a teacher, she was involved in various apostolates relevant to her time. Her life of prayer and arduous labour enable her to take care of orphan, the homeless, abandoned, and the education of youth. She drew her inspirations from the devouring zeal of our Holy Mother St. Teresa of Avila and she worked for the glory of God and the building of His kingdom. Although her life was short, with only fifteen years as a religious sister, God worked wonders through her. She was responsible for the founding of the Congregation the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (C.S.S.T.). Her life was of challenges i.e. taking care of those who had no place in society, those who were marginalized in one way or another, She sought to integrate such persons into the mainstream of life through the various apostolic works according to the felt needs of her time.
She lived to Gospel Message. “Whatsoever you do the least of my brothers, you did it to me. When I was hungry, you gave me to eat. When I was thirsty, you gave me to drink, now enter into the home of my Father” In those days when women were not given any social status and freedom, she visited the prison and shared God’s love with the people there.

Admission Procedure
St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School is a Catholic School run by the Institute of the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa (CSST) a religious order founded by Mother Teresa of Chennai in Kerala, in the year of 1887. This institute with its main administrative centre in Bangalore has established colleges, training institutes and large number of Schools in different parts of our country and in the five continents, to fulfill religious objectives.
Continuing the vision of their Foundress the Sisters work in various social work projects and also care of the sick, the poor and the destitute.
The educational institutions established by this religious institute are administered by the personnel appointed by the institute and care entitled to the guarantee enshrined in Act 30 (1) of the Constitution of India.
St. Joseph’s Matric. Higher Secondary School is conducted by the above mentioned institute, their aim is to prepare girls and boys entrusted to their care, for the duties of life by religious, moral, intellectual and physical training. The school accepts pupils of all castes and creed.
The school prepares pupils from Std VI to X for Matriculation School Examination and Std XI and XII for the state Govt. Higher Secondary Examination. A pupil who passes the XII standard is eligible for admission to the degree course or professional course of any university. Tamil is taught as Second Language from VI-X and Tamil / Hindi/ French for XI and XII Standard. The school year commencing from June to September, October to December and January to May.
